Jack ShannonMr. Jack Shannon received his Bachelor of Science Aerospace Engineering form The University of Texas in 1961 and became a Washington State Professional Engineer in 1970. His professional career has included positions with the US Navy Naval Air Test Center, The Boeing Company, FAA Consulting Designated Engineering Representative (DER), and SHANNON Engineering, Inc.

Mr. Shannon’s significant achievements include the following:

• Introduced sophisticated performance analysis to the general and corporate aviation industry. Flying magazine article on the “Chase-Around” August 1971; Planned, tested and published certified performance data on most STOL airplanes through 1977, all Gates Lear Jet series 20 and 30 aircraft through 1984, and Boeing 707’s in the late 1980’s
• First Consulting DER recognized by the lead FAA region for large aircraft, 1976

• Major design, development and test engineering responsibilities with GE, Pratt & Whitney, Allied Signal and Williams engines and on more than half of the free worlds corporate jets, including Boeing helicopters.

• First major FAA Supplemental Type Certificates on Boeing aircraft. JS1105, Quiet 707 noise attenuation package, 1982, with STC SA2699NM in 1985; and JS1135, 747-300 interior structural modifications, 1984, with STCs SA832NM and SA332NM, in 1986 and 1987

• Diagnostic flight test for Perkins and Coie.

•Funded the first private sculpture at King County International Airport, Boeing Field, Robert Macki’s “Double Concave Pentagon,” 1986.

• SHANNON engineering, Inc., a Malcus entity, 1969-2000. Recognized by Inc. 500 as one of Americas Fastest-Growing Private Companies, December 1986
• President, Barker Ranch, Ltd., a 2000 acre wetland restoration engagement, including exploratory grazing program. Developed and obtained Bureau of Reclamation approval of an irrigation water measurement and management system.

• First place in the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club’s Victoria, BC to Maui international sailboat race, 2004
• 3000+ hour private active pilot with multiengine commercial and instrument ratings since 1962

•Authored and published the 58P, ISBN 978-0-557-00015-9, an instructional guide including unique performance charts and emergency check list for the pressurized Baron.

Mr. Shannon has served as a member of the Seattle Opera Board from 1985-1990. The Museum of Flight Executive Committee from 1985-2003, continuing as trustee. Served as President of Barker Ranch LTD in 2002 and 2003. He is an Emeritus member of The University of Texas at Austin ASE/EM External Advisory Committee.

Mr. Shannon is married and enjoys hunting, fishing and sailing.
