Special Seminar
Exploring the Habitability of Enceladus and Europa with Mass Spectrometry
1:30 pm
This seminar will be held virtually via Zoom (link sent in email announcement).
The Center for Planetary Systems Habitability will host a special seminar on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 with J. Hunter Waite with contributions from Frank Postberg (CDA), Chris Glein (geochemistry), Christine Ray (biogeochemistry) and Tara Salter (biogeochemistry).
This talk provides a review of what we learned about the habitability of the Enceladus Ocean from the Cassini-Huygens mission to the Saturn system using the combined set of instruments onboard the Cassini orbiter. With this as a reference point the presentation further explores how we can take this knowledge from Cassini and use it to define a more comprehensive habitability survey of the Europan Ocean using the MASPEX Europa instrument built at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas.
