Undergraduate Research Eligibility and Procedures
Participation in undergraduate research requires a university grade point average of at least 3.0. Eligibility for research positions may also depend on completed coursework and overall availability.
The steps below are designed to help undergraduate students discover and inquire about undergraduate research opportunities in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics.
1) Explore the five research areas within the department to identify area(s) of interest.
2) Use the Undergraduate Research Survey to narrow down applicable faculty and determine eligibility to participate in research opportunities.
3) Make initial contact with faculty. Faculty email addresses will be generated by the undergraduate research survey based on response.
4) If no results are found, research opportunities fitting the student’s credentials may not be available at this time.
5) If a response is received from faculty after the initial email, be sure to use proper email etiquette during any future correspondence. If no response is received, politely follow up after about one week of sending the initial email.
