Bob SchutzBob Schutz has been elected to the grade of Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). AIAA Fellows are “persons of distinction in aeronautics or astronautics, who have made notable and valuable contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology thereof.” He will be recognized at a special AIAA dinner and awards gala in April.

Schutz’s research interests lie in space geodesy and its applications, space geodetic instrumentation, orbital mechanics, mission planning and computational techniques. He was the Science Team Leader for the NASA Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS), which was operated in Earth orbit for several years. Schutz has served on the ASE/EM faculty since 1969.
