Ryan Russell and Jayant Sirohi

Ryan Russell (left) and Jayant Sirohi (right) have been elected to the grade of Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Associate Fellows of AIAA are selected for their notable and valuable contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics. Both faculty members will be officially recognized by AIAA at a ceremony and dinner with a lapel pin and certificate in January of next year.

Russell, an assistant professor in ASE/EM, joined the department in 2012. His research interests include a variety of theoretical and applied areas in astrodynamics including trajectory design, orbit estimation and numerical methods. He began his professional career as a member of the Guidance, Navigation and Control section at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a mission designer and orbit determination analyst for a variety of space flight projects.
