Nanshu LuNanshu Lu has co-authored a paper that was published in Nature Nanotechnology on March 31, 2014.

The paper, titled “Multifunctional wearable devices for diagnosis and therapy of movement disorders,” discusses Lu’s research on wearable bio-integrated electronics. These wearable sensor-laden devices (electronic tattoos) can measure and store data about a person’s movements, receive diagnostic information and deliver medicine through the skin. The device discussed is the first of its kind that can deliver drugs and store information locally.

This research paper was also featured on Nature.com: “’Electronic skin’ equipped with memory: Wearable sensor stores and transmits motion data and delivers drugs.”

Lu recently received a National Science Foundation CAREER award for her work on wearable electronics. She joined the ASE/EM department as an assistant professor in fall of 2011. For more information about Lu’s research, visit her website.
