Professor Thomas Hughes has been elected to Foreign Associate of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The Academy’s mission is “to promote the sciences and humanities in every respect and in every field, particularly in basic research.” Hughes will receive a diploma during the Festive Session of the Academy to be held in May. The session will be attended by the Federal President of Austria.

Professor Hughes is an internationally known expert in computational engineering and sciences and holds the Computational and Applied Mathematics Chair III. He is affiliated with the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences.
