Technical Area: Space Flight What has been your most influential ASE or EM course and why? My favorite ASE course was Spacecraft Dynamics. It was the first space-related course I took and I loved it. As the class shifted from topic to topic, I got more and more fascinated with the technical topics and stories about how we came to understand spaceflight. At the conclusion of the course I knew that I had made the right decision with aerospace engineering.
My most influential professor has been Professor Glenn Lightsey. I worked with Dr. Lightsey for four years of my undergraduate degree and had a chance to take his Attitude Dynamics class my senior year. He is an incredible mentor, teacher and has kept me on as a graduate student. Has involvement in student groups made a difference in your education? If so, how? I was involved in the Satellite Design Laboratory (SDL) for over four years and would say that it was the best investment I made at UT. The courses in aerospace provide a solid theoretical foundation that led me to be so successful in the SDL. The lab allowed me to work with my hands, make my own real engineering decisions, and construct a spacecraft that went into orbit. The SDL has also given me a firm technical understanding of the engineering industry and I know I will be prepared for whatever I do in the future. List three things that most people don't know about you.
