What can I do with my Engineering degree after I graduate?Engineering Career Assistance Center (ECAC) helps engineering students find careers. Engineering students are encouraged to register annually for job placement services. To learn more about these services call 471-1915 or stop by ECJ 2.400. Is there tutoring available?Yes, there is both free tutoring and paid private tutoring available on campus. Free Engineering options are available as well as free group or paid private options at the Sanger Learning and Career Center. Are there any programs for exceptional students?The Engineering Honors Programs enables academically exceptional students to enroll in special sections of classes taught by outstanding faculty members. Information can be obtained by calling 471-4321, or stopping by ECJ 2.200. The Engineering/Plan II dual degree program combines a liberal arts honors degree and an engineering degree. For more information about the program call 471-1442. Are there computers I can use?Yes, in the second-floor Learning Resource Center (WRW 205). Identify yourself to the proctor on duty. How do I get an email account?Ask in the Learning Resource Center for instructions or go directly to the ITS website and follow prompts. How do I get an I.D. card?Once you are registered, you can apply at the I.D. Center located in the Flawn Academic Center. The key is to be registered first! How do I make an appointment with the Undergraduate Coordinator/Advisor?Make an appointment online here (requires UT EID and password). When and how do we do advising?Check the Course Schedule and bulletin boards for dates of campus-wide and ASE/EM advising periods. You will be sent an e-mail reminder about times and location. Is there any kind of special help for minorities or women in engineering?The Equal Opportunity in Engineering program provides minority students with tutoring services, industry contacts, and student support through Pi Sigma Pi, the minority engineering organization. The office is located in ECJ 2.102, for more information, call 471-5953. The Cockrell School of Engineering also has a very active program, Women in Engineering Program (WEP), geared to help women in the field of engineering. What kinds of student organizations exist on campus for engineering students?The Student Engineering Council membership is comprised of members-at-large, freshman representatives, society representatives, and associate members. All students in the School are welcome to become members. The SEC is dedicated to serving its members and promoting involvement in the Cockrell School of Engineering. If you would like to know more about the SEC, you may call 471-3003 or stop by the office at ECJ 1.222. What's the difference between a basic sequence, a major sequence and elective courses?Basic Sequence courses must be completed before students are allowed to register for Major Sequence courses. Major Sequence courses are limited to those students who have been admitted by the Cockrell School of Engineering Admissions Committee. To apply for Major Sequence, the student must apply on-line. Elective Courses must be approved by the Department of Aerospace Engineering before enrolling in them. These lists are available on the Advising Resources page. What kinds of societies exist for ASE/EM undergraduates?Aerospace students also have the opportunity to participate in AIAA (the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics). Activities include field trips, meetings, lectures, and social events. Sigma Gamma Tau, the Aerospace honor society, invites the top students to become members each semester.
