| Dr. Belinda Marchand Wins Young Investigator Award |
|
November 20 , 2008 Dr. Belinda Marchand has been selected for a Young Investigator Program (YIP) award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). The award provides $300K over the span of three years. The AFOSR YIP program fosters creative research in science and engineering, enhances early career development of outstanding young researchers, and increases opportunities for the young researchers to recognize the Air Force mission and the related challenges in science and engineering. The competition for the YIP awards has been intense. The success rates have been between 12 and 20 percent in the last three years. Dr. Marchand specializes in the application of dynamical systems theory, and nonlinear control methods, to various problems in aerospace engineering. Her recent research activities focus on the relative control of space based formations near the libration points of the Sun-Earth/Moon system. She joined the Cockrell School of Engineering faculty in 2005. |
