HousingUniversity ApartmentsThe University Apartments are reserved for families, graduate students, and undergraduates with at least 30 hours credit and in good standing with the University. Off-Campus HousingLocating appropriate housing in Austin can be a challenge. This web page is a resource to help the UT Austin community find private off-campus rental or exchange property offered by individuals affiliated with UT Austin. Updgrade Your EIDOnce you become a student at The University of Texas, you need to have your UT EID upgraded to "High Assurance" status. This means that the university has seen physical proof of your identity (such as a driver's license or passport), and that you have signed a form giving your UT EID legal signature authority. You will need to upgrade your UT EID when you arrive at the university and get your UT Austin ID cards. The easiest way to upgrade your UT EID is to bring your driver's license or passport to the ID Center, located on the first floor of the Flawn Academic Center (FAC). You are entitled to a free e-mail account while you are at UT. Give your e-mail address to the Graduate Coordinator as soon as possible. Most announcements by the ASE Graduate Program will be sent by e-mail, so you need to get your address as soon as possible and read your mail regularly. There are two kinds of regular mail at UT: US mail and Campus mail. Official graduate student mail can be picked up from the Graduate Coordinator (WRW 215). Please do not have personal mail sent to you through the Department. It will be returned to the sender. Computer AccessComputers are availalbe for student use in the Learning Resource Center located on the second floor of WRW. Identify yourself to the proctor on duty. Graduate students may request a key card for night access. Bulletin BoardsThere is a bulletin board for graduate students located on the second floor outside WRW 215. We will post information concerning jobs, other graduate programs, etc. You should check the bulletin boards periodically. Desk and KeysTo be assigned a desk, Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Each group has a block of space for its own students. Priority is given to TAs and RAs. Dr. Chad Landis will provide you with a key request form once your desk assignment has been made. Take the form to the Graduate Coordinator, Tina Woods (WRW 215D), then turn the form into Jessica Kramm at the WRW Front Office. Once the form has been finally approved, proceed to the Keys Building on 24th street. ParkingGraduate students with half-time appointments (20 hours/week) can purchase a "G" parking permit which allows parking on campus in designated areas. Also, parking garage permits are available.
