Research Interests:

  • mechanical behavior of materials at high strain rates
  • fracture in nominally brittle materials
  • shear banding in polymeric materials
  • phase transformation in shape memory alloys

Dr. K. Ravi-Chandar joined us as a Professor for the Fall 2000 semester. Since 1995 his previous position was Professor at The University of Houston. Dr. Ravi-Chandar is also the Associate Director of the Center for Mechanics of Solids, Structures, and Materials (CMSSM) and Editor of the International Journal of Fracture. He serves on the steering committee of the Texas Materials Institute (TMI).
