Dr. Mear specializes in the mechanics of solids. He has served on the Cockrell School of Engineering faculty since 1987. He has published numerous technical articles and reports. He was the recipient of the 1997 ASE/EM Departmental Teaching Award.

Dr. Mear is affiliated with the Texas Institute for Computational and Applied Mechanics and The Center for Mechanics of Solids, Structures & Materials.
