Research Interests:

  • Aerospace systems engineering design and technology integration
  • Aerodynamics, propulsion and aircraft performance
  • Unmanned aircraft communications, sensors, and control stations
  • Structural design and analysis
  • Mass properties estimation and weight control

Dr. Chaput's primary interest is in aircraft system design/technology integration and related subjects with a focus on unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). He is Director of the Lockheed Martin sponsored Aircraft System Design and Integration Laboratory and Faculty Advisor for the UT Design-Build-Fly (DBF) team. He is an Emeritus Senior Corporate Fellow from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Fort Worth where he was a member of the Air System Design and Integration technical staff.
