Dr. Becker retired from the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics in June 2007. He served on the Cockrell School of Engineering faculty since 1966 and had six years of industrial experience. He specialized in the development and application of finite element methods in solid mechanics. Dr. Becker published more than 45 technical articles and reports, and authored or edited one book.

Dr. Becker was affiliated with the Center for Mechanics of Solids, Structures, and Materials (CMSSM) and the Texas Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (TICAM).
