Jingyi "Ann" Chen

Assistant Professor

Department Research Areas:
Orbital Mechanics

Education: Ph.D., Stanford University

Research Interests:

  • Satellite geodesy and remote sensing
  • Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) image processing algorithms
  • InSAR-based earth observation applications

Ann Chen has more than 10 years of experience in radar interferometry algorithm development and its applications to earth science research including natural and induced seismicity, water resource management, emergency and disaster response and permafrost research. In 2017, Ann Chen joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Texas at Austin (UT) as an assistant professor. Since 2018, she also serves as a faculty member (by courtesy) in the Department of Geological Sciences at UT. Her radar interferometry group is housed in the Center for Space Research (CSR) and she has been closely working with students and faculty members across the Cockrell School of Engineering and the Jackson School of Geosciences to study the Earth's interconnected natural systems using SAR/InSAR data.
