Jermoe Sicard in lab

Aerospace engineering PhD candidate Jerome Sicard is the recipient of the Florence Winslow DeLaRue Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF) Scholarship. The VFF was established in 1967 as the philanthropic arm of the American Helicopter Society (AHS).

The VFF scholarships are merit-based and are awarded annually to students who demonstrate an interest in pursuing engineering careers in the vertical flight industry.

Sicard will receive his award at the AHS 69th Annual Forum & Technology Display banquet on May 22 at the Phoenix Convention Center.

Dr. Jayant Sirohi serves as Sicard’s faculty advisor. The two are working on research to revolutionize microhelicopters, which could lead to improved natural disaster response and military reconnaissance missions. Read more about their work here.
