The aerospace engineering graduate program in the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has been ranked No. 8 according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 graduate school rankings, once again affirming its position as one of the top programs of its kind in the nation.

Students enrolled in the UT aerospace engineering graduate program in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics (ASE/EM) perform cutting-edge research in interdisciplinary fields while working under the supervision of esteemed faculty in areas such as robotics and autonomy, remote sensing, computational engineering, space engineering and technology, aviation, and theoretical and experimental mechanics. A new space tech entrepreneurial specialization has also been added for the 2022-23 academic year.

Graduates of the program hold high-level positions in their fields and include professors, entrepreneurs, government and industry leaders, astronauts, pilots, researchers, administrators and more.

The ASE/EM Department is also home to the world-renowned engineering mechanics graduate program and recently introduced the computational engineering undergraduate program – the first of its kind offered by a U.S. university.

In addition, the Cockrell School of Engineering’s overall graduate ranking moved up to No. 6 in the U.S., and the aerospace engineering undergraduate program ranks No. 9 according to the U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 rankings.

U.S. News & World Report’s annual engineering graduate program rankings are based on student acceptance rates, faculty/student ratios, research expenditures, reputation among engineers in industry and academia, the number of doctoral degrees produced, the percentage of faculty elected to the National Academy of Engineering and entrance exam scores.
