Meeting Summary

Our last general meeting of the Spring 2004 semester took place on April 20.  The meeting began with officer elections; the list of new officers can be found here.  Congratulations to all new officers!

Our guest speaker for the evening was Gerald Miller from United Space Alliance, who spoke about the tools astronauts use during EVA.  He brought several examples, and he stressed the importance of considering reaction forces, astronaut mobility, user interface, and the harsh environment of space when designing such tools.

Some final bulletins for everyone:

The UT AIAA and ASE/EM Department T-shirts are still on sale for the low, low price of $10...drop by the AIAA office in WRW 102A to buy yours today!

The ASE/EM Spring Happening will take place on Friday, May 7, on the grassy knoll by ENS.  The event will feature free barbecue from Fuschaks Pit BBQ and musical guest Van Wilks.  Also, we are still looking volunteers to help out with the event...contact an officer if you're interested in volunteering!

Dr. Steven Weinberg, a Nobel Laureate and professor of physics and astronomy, will give a special lecture entitled "The Wrong Stuff" on Tuesday, April 27.  The event will take place at 7pm in RLM 4.102.
