Makiko Okamoto, aerospace engineering graduate student, received a $10,000 Amelia Earhart Fellowship from Zonta International for her research on cooperative control of multi-agent systems.

J. Tinsley Oden was elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.

Philip Barcelon, aerospace engineering sophomore, received a SMART (Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation Program) Scholarship from the American Society for Engineering Education.

The UT Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics scored impressive 2nd and 4th place wins against almost 70 other university teams in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Design-Build-Fly (DBF) Competition held in Wichita, Kansas 19-21 April, 2008.
