The UT Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics scored impressive 2nd and 4th place wins against almost 70 other university teams in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Design-Build-Fly (DBF) Competition held in Wichita, Kansas 19-21 April, 2008.

Mary Wheeler is slated to receive an Honorary Doctor of Engineering Degree from the Colorado School of Mines in May 2008.

For 50 years, Dr. Byron D. Tapley, principal investigator of NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) mission and professor of aerospace engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, has been an educator, a researcher, and a visionary who has made unique and significant contributions to the field of aerospace education and space geodesy.

Sarah Kitten has been selected to receive the 2007-08 Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Staff Excellence Award.

Venkat Raman has been selected to receive the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, which recognizes promising young faculty members.
