Windows Laptop Printing
Setting Up Printers:
(Note: requires Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP)
- select the Start button on the task bar
- select Windows Explorer in the Start menu *
- under the Tools menu, select Map Network Drive...
- type \\146.6.104.14\printers in the Folder: box
- select Connect using a different user name
- in the User name: box, enter ENGR\%username%, where %username% is your LRC logon name
- enter your LRC password in the Password: box
- click Finish
- select the Start menu, then select Settings -> Printers
- open Add Printer
- select Network printer
- select Type the printer name and enter \\146.6.104.14\LRCLaser
- set LRCLaser as default printer
- repeat for LRCPhaser with name \\146.6.104.14\LRCPhaser
- do not set LRCPhaser as default printer
(* on some systems the Windows Explorer might be located in the Programs or Programs -> Accessories)
Printing:
(Note: You must map the network drive as listed in steps 1-8 before printing)
For black and white laser printing, the LRC has three Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4100Ns running off of the same print queue.
From your application select Print from the File menu. In the print dialog box, select \\146.6.104.14\LRCLaser.
For special projects in which color printing is required, the LRC has a HP 4550 color laser postscript printer. Please ask the proctor on duty before using of the HP 4550.
From your application select Print from the File menu. In the print dialog box, select \\146.6.104.14\LRCPhaser.
Checking the print queue:
To check the print queue, select the Start menu, then Settings, then click on Printers, then select the printer to which you sent your job.
