Dr. Hayes specializes in finite element modeling of heat transfer in human tissues and algorithm design for parallel processing. She has served on the faculty of the Cockrell School of Engineering since 1979 and as assistant dean for research from 1995 to 1996. Dr. Hayes has published more than 135 technical articles and reports and five book chapters.

Dr. Hayes is affiliated with the Texas Institute for Computational and Applied Mechanics.
