Adam HamiltonMr. Hamilton serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Southwest Research Institute (SwRI®), one of the nation’s largest independent providers of advanced scientific and applied technology solutions. Before joining Southwest Research Institute, Mr. Hamilton was the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of Signature Science, LLC, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of SwRI. Mr. Hamilton served as the CEO of Signature Science from 2001 to 2014 and is currently the Chairman of this organization. Prior to starting Signature Science, Mr. Hamilton started his career by spending 15 years at Austin-based Radian Corporation from 1986 to 2001.

Mr. Hamilton holds an M.S. degree in aerospace engineering (1987, under the supervision of Dr. Roy R. Craig, Jr.) and a B.S. degree in aerospace engineering (1985), both from The University of Texas at Austin. He has been a Professional Engineer (Texas #76784) since 1993. 

Mr. Hamilton currently serves on the Executive Committee and Campaign Cabinet of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County. He also served as the co-Chair of the 2015 United Way Volunteer of the Year (VOYA) event. He is on the board of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) College of Sciences Advancement Council.  He is a Trustee of the San Antonio Medical Foundation and the Texas Biomedical Research Institute. Mr. Hamilton is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) Industry Advisory Board (IAB) and the Industry and Community Affiliates (ICA) of The Academy of Medicine, Engineering & Science of Texas (TAMEST). He has served as a board member of the Greater Austin Crime Commission and the Training Advisory Board for the Office of the Texas Attorney General. Mr. Hamilton reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander and has served as the Future Plans Officer (N5) for the Texas State Guard Maritime Regiment (TMAR) and as the Deputy Director for Risk Assessment for the Texas Engineers Task Force on Homeland Security. He is a Graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizens’ Academy and a Graduate of Leadership Austin.

Mr. Hamilton is certified in Homeland Security Level-V, #102905; American College of Forensic Examiners Institute; certified Firearms Instructor, #411598; Texas Commission on Law Enforcement; and ICS, NIMS, and NRP certified, FEMA, #582031. He has been awarded the Texas Outstanding Service Medal (Texas State Guard), Corporate Achievement Award (Radian), and Exceptional Service in the Public Interest (FBI).

Mr. Hamilton married his high school (Round Rock, Texas) sweetheart in 1984 and the Hamiltons have three adult children. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton are in-residence at the Southwest Research Institute campus in San Antonio, Texas, and also maintain a residence in the Austin area. In his spare time, Mr. Hamilton continues to enjoy collegiate baseball, collecting (and reading) books, astronomy and (non-hunting) shooting sports.
