MEMBER ROLES
The project responsibilities are divided among
the three members of the Ultra Flite team. Members of this team are Erol
Cagatay, George Chi, and Jenna E. Harsch. All team members have equally
important duties and responsibilities throughout their research. The work
has been divided to create an overlap in the project responsibilities.
3.1
Erol Cagatay
Erol Cagatay is a project engineer at Ultra
Flite. His responsibilities as of the midterm included, but were not limited
to, hummingbird filming and aeroelastic analysis using MSC/NASTRAN. Although
Cagatay’s main research responsibility was the creation and analysis of
NASTRAN code for the aeroelastic analysis, he also assisted in the filming
of the hummingbird in hovering flight. He contributed his technical skills
in areas such as video-recording equipment setup and post-processing of
imagery. Cagatay was also our liaison to both Dr. Clemens and Dr. Ball
who arrange the times we may film the hummingbird. After the midterm, Cagatay's
responsibilities included the post image processing of the CT Scan. He
also served as the liason to Ruben Reyes who aided us in the CT Scan post
processing. Additionally, Cagatay assisted in the post processing of the
video footage.
3.2
George Chi
George Chi is the project manager at Ultra Flite.
His responsibilities as of the midterm included, but were not limited to,
hummingbird filming, aeroelastic analysis using MSC/NASTRAN, and management.
Although Chi’s main responsibility focused on helping Cagatay in the creation
and analysis of NASTRAN code, he also supported filming. Furthermore, he
conducted administrative duties for the company. He was responsible for
ensuring that weekly memorandums, meetings, and individual responsibilities
were completed in a timely manner and that the team was making adequate
progress. He was also the liaison to both Dr. Chai and Dr. Kappelman who
oversee equipment usage. After the midterm, Chi was responsible for the
post processing and analysis of the video footage. He also assisted Cagatay
in the post image processing of the CT Scan.
3.3
Jenna E. Harsch
Jenna Harsch is a project engineer at Ultra
Flite. Her responsibilities as of the midterm included, but were not limited
to, micro air vehicle research and hummingbird filming. Although Harsch’s
main area is micro air vehicle research, she also assisted in filming.
She also contributed to the research on the creation of a state-space model
of the hummingbird. She attained pertinent information concerning the hummingbird
wing bone structure that helped generate an approximate model of the hummingbird
in three-dimensional space. After the midterm, Harsch assisted Cagatay
in the post-image processing of the CT Scan, and she also assisted Chi
in analyzing the experimental results of the video footage versus the theoretical
results. She was also responsible for the final editing of the Final report.
