The Hummingbird/MAV project is about studying hummingbird aerodynamics and relating that information to Micro Air Vehicles. Our research was conducted at The University of Texas at Austin involving multiple departments. ASE363Q: Structural Design and Testing, is a design course mandatory for Aerospace Engineering students. Ultra Flite (our assumed company name) decided to make use of material from other departments because of the available technology that exist. Technology such as the high-speed video camera, CT-Scan, and live hummingbirds were all used in our research.
In order to make our results and conclusions more available, Ultra Flite has decided to create this web-site for your personal enlightenment. This web site was designed for people interested in learning more about hummingbirds and micro air vehicles. Please take a look around to learn more about our break-through findings about hummingbird wing motion patterns, outstanding 3D model of the hummingbird skull, and interesting research about micro air vehicle technology.
