That's what we do. We used to have a crash division, but that was removed during the last efficiency review. The contest rules come out every year loaded with tough new engineering problems and scoring systems. We figure out how to make the most points, then we design, build and test fly an airplane that can do it. It is a tough competition. The winning team this April had a 4.75 lb airplane that carried 9.5 lbs of water, and could load 48 tennis balls in under 20 seconds. We get a private tour bus for an all expenses paid trip to the competition. We watched DVDs on the way there, did some last minute building in the hotel, then spent the weekend checking out the sweet little airplanes and the funny looking flying boxes. We need new team members. The DBF experience is great, but the point of DBF is to get experience. Most of us are in Aerospace, but more than half of the problems have nothing to do with aerodynamics. For the record: We beat OU |
