Hotel

 

The conference hotel is the Portola Plaza Hotel, a beautiful resort hotel on the Monterey Bay. All technical sessions will be held at either the hotel itself or at the adjacent Monterey Conference Center.

Special MTDM Conference Rates

We have arranged with the Portola Plaza Hotel to have a limited number of rooms available to MTDM 2008 participants at the special rate of $179 per night. This is for single or double occupancy, and you will be able to split a single room between two credit cards if necessary. A rate of $209 is available for triple or quad occupancy. This is a substantial savings over the hotel's regular rates in this season, and the number of rooms are limited, so please make your reservations as soon as possible.

To make reservations by phone, please call 866-711-1534, and tell them you want the special rate for the MTDM Conference.

A small number of rooms at the current government rates are available as well. If you'd like to reserve a room at the government rate, please contact Kate Joly (or call 512-475-7760).

Credit Card Deposit

Be aware that when you make your reservation at the Portola Plaza Hotel, they will require credit card information from you for a deposit. The deposit will be equivalent to one night's stay, including tax, and will be charged to your credit card within 24 hours of your making your reservation. See the Cancellations section below for deposit refund policies.

Conference Registration and Hotel Reservations

Once you've made your Portola Plaza Hotel reservation, be sure to keep track of your confirmation code. When you register for the conference, you will be asked to provide a confirmation code from the hotel. (Please see the Facilities Fee section below if you choose not to stay at the Portola Plaza Hotel.)

While registering, you may use either one of two types of confirmation code: Either the 6-digit code beginning with "3", or the 8-digit code beginning with "323".

Facilities Fee

In order to ensure the solvency of the conference participants who choose not to use the Portola Plaza Hotel for their entire stay will have a Facilities Fee of $400 added to the Conference Registration Fee.

We regret this necessity, but hotels and meeting rooms in Monterey, California are quite expensive. In order to arrange for MTDM 2008 to be held in this beautiful resort facility, we had to guarantee that a certain number of rooms will be occupied by meeting participants. Without this guarantee, the meeting rooms could not even be rented for the meeting.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your hotel reservation for any reason, please do so on-line here, or call the hotel at 866-711-1534. If you need to cancel your conference registration, please see the Cancellations section on the Registration page.

PLEASE NOTE: If you cancel your hotel reservation without cancelling your conference registration we will try to contact you to get either another confirmation code or permission to charge the $400 Facilities Fee. If we have not received either one by a week prior to the conference, we will cancel your registration (without a refund).
